Rumour : delayed north stand extension

If they were not going to build, it makes zero sense to have just made the south stand side of the Colin Bell and East stands premium seats. It would have made more sense to go out from the centre circle on both sides so premium seat holders are as close to the centre circle as possible.

I would say still, very likely on that basis alone.

Leaving nowhere for the Corporate folk to sit?

Re: delayed north stand extension

hmmm our figures look a little odd to me 97.1% of 45380 is a capacity of 46700. I really doubt the stadium holds that this year. Even the biggest games that were sell outs Arsenal, Chelsea, United, Liverpool were 45600 ish so I'd say that is our capacity after segregation etc. This gives 45380/45600=0.995 so 99.5% or second in the table if you prefer. Shit journalism at it's best[/quote]

Official seating capacity 46000 this year, so 98.7%, as you say take out the segregation and nearer 99%. But really what's the purpose of producing the stat in the first place? Just more bullshit to fill a page of a paper nobody is bothered about.

Written to do nothing more than claim the rags are the biggest and best.

Fucking boring but their armchair fans lap it up.

From what I have been told, the extension has been delayed, if this is down to demand then surely the club are forgetting another source of income, which is the away fans, if city allocated 5/6000 to away fans and priced it accordingly then filling the extra seats would be a doddle, and make the etihad the most atmospheric ground in the country. 56000 home fans, 6000 away fans, it would become the stadium most like games in Germany. Charge the big clubs a reasonable 30/35 quid, and the minnows 20 to 25. The away followings at the etihad are dying, and adds nothing to the atmosphere presently

Was the person who told you ITK or is it just Chinese whispers

We gain nothing from holding back on stadium expansion imo. We want one of the worlds best stadiums and we want to be able to bid for the CL cup final. With the right players and the right pricing whilst it might not fill every week, for the really big games it will and even with a few empty seats, we would still be right up there with the biggest attendances.

I also think building costs dont count against us with FFP so just get it done.
Build it and improve our performances & the will come. We need a high quality stadium with a 60k+ capacity to compete with the Bayern's of this world.....

and when a Fulham bring 23 fans?

Don't you think the away following at the Etihad may have dropped because no team comes here now expecting to get anything from the game.
Our excellent home form over the few seasons may have contributed to this trend?

sensible season ticket pricing would help. Mine has gone up £75 for platinum, so going gold this time saving £50. About time all clubs implemented the £20 is plenty policy for away fans.

Most away fans relish playing one of the bigger teams as they see it as a big day out. Crystal Palace away or Arsenal away? Mmmmmmmm choices choices...........

A female colleague of mine at work, her husband is one of the bosses working on the new stand at our stadium. I will ask on Monday if there is any delay on the extension. Was talking about it with her earlier in the week and she did not mention that h had said it was delayed
