Rumours Bernardo may leave | Still 1 year left on contract

Bernardo is a city legend, unfortunately a former one, his time is up with us & pep using him as a wide player is fucking mind boggling, might as well as start with 10 players
He played on the right when we won the treble and scored 2 goals against Madrid. It’s not mind boggling at all, he’s incredible.

Bernie is one of many that have been run into the ground and just when they think they have a summer off we have the CWC coming up. But it’s not just how many games, it’s how these players are managed. They are either rushed back because we can’t afford to be without them or they play full games. Pep likes a small squad to guarantee everyone minutes but we have seen several times how a few injuries/suspensions can completely throw this. We have had a midfielder constantly playing out of position for most of the season as well so the balance is off and you look at the last game we had midfielders as full backs.

This season is a anomaly.

Footballers at the highest level don’t just get worse over night, especially without big injuries. He’s not forgotten how to play football at all there are factors which you quite simply aren’t taking into account. He could easily stay and recover his usual form and personally I hope he does so several people on here and Twitter especially can apologise.

If it was just this season, but last season he wasn't particularly good either. His case reminds me about Sterling. Brilliant in 19/20 and because of it people were still wanting to give him a chance. A player can have a bad season, but 2 consecutive seasons and with 30 is a HUGE red flag that you have to get rid and you will be correct in 99 out of 100 cases.

Right grealish was a centre mid who Went Went past people and scored a few a villa ,he's been converted to a winger who dosnt attack and plays safe mainly with back passing and the occasional run across the pitch ,his only decent game this season was against forest when he was probably motm when he played central .
When Foden broke through his main strength was running with the ball forward beating a few players by gliding past them .this seasons Foden don't even face the goal dosnt dribble and is happy to pass back constantly ,and yes I do know Phil isn't his normal self ,
That's my opinion on attending every game nearly .

The thing with grealish is he's very good at going last players when he gets going. He's not the quickest off the mark but he's no slouch once he gets moving.

Then if you stick him on the touchline, you've got almost no room to work in, so you need to have very quick acceleration to beat a player. He doesn't have that, so he's left to just play the safe pass back. Give him more room to work and he's a different player.

So is it fair to say Pep has ruined him playing out wide ? Frustrating as he's much better when he's allowed to go forward .also the he's a piss head idea maybe he is but it's interesting to know that the summer he went on his bender the black lad with the shaved head that was never more than 3 feet from him in photos is city security,so they will be well Aware what he's up to .

He was an unreal player , he combined skill and technique with unbelievable levels of graft - a very rare combination

But running 13k every 3 days for the past 8 years has taken its toll, he can still run but doesn’t have that extra 10% that made him special

They say that most players have 500 games at the very highest level in them , Bernie has played 585 so far , his race is run

Love the bloke. Genuinely. Works hard, always available and is generally a fantastic player.

He's been gash this season but that's an anomaly in the 8 seasons he's been here.

I wouldn't be in a massive rush to sell him, though, unless we get a big bid. I think he'd be one who'd benefit from a bit of a squad refresh, competition and basically a break from being the one that Pep relies on no matter what.

Like in the window he came - 17/18 - it's probably going to feel like a whole new squad which should hopefully re-energise certain players (Bernardo).

He’s been on a steady decline for a few seasons. He never had pace but what’s been declining is his engine.

He’d prolong his career moving to a less physical league and I hope he can secure that, because we kept him captive for the last 3 years when he wanted to go and has been a model professional.

I hope he gets the move he wants, and realistically it’s time for both parties to move on.

Totally agree for me my favorite player since the takeover, a player that completely gets us as a club and who has contributed as much as anyone.

But he's been a shadow of a once great for two seasons, we have run the little fella into the ground.

His workrate is still exceptional but the magic sadly has gone, time to say thank you so much and goodbye and good luck.

No way they have told him that, I believe he will probably move to Benfica this summer though together with Nelson Semedo from Wolves. They want to get some old former players back. They will drag out the fee all summer though. His Barca dream is stone cold dead. I can see Felix going back on loan as well.
Bernardo has always wanted to contribute to Benfica's A team.

Bernardo has carried the team more often than de bruyne has. That 100 points a season (or the season after that) debruyne was injured for half a season. Bernardo was the cog then and still is. I remember the debate in bluemoon that season most of us fans used to put debruyne out of our best 11. It was mostly due to bernardo.
He is more of a legend than Joe haart or fernandinho is. If he leaves he may not get the statue but will definitely has to get something in training pitch.

The decline may be due to pep asking him to play more like a CMF than AMF. His attacking prowess is tactically used less than he actually pocess.

Bernardo is gone I reckon I also think the board has decided and not told him yet and Viana and Mendes are organising his exit.

We will act differently this window. Viana being the push behind that.

Lol, how does a player not know they’re leaving the club when their agent is actively working on a move to their next one?!

Hope he and Kovacic stay for at least 1 more season. I would rather see KDB and Gundogan move on, despite how good they have been for us.
