Rumours Bernardo may leave | Still 1 year left on contract

I’ve said it in another thread, but we’re going to lose lots of world class players and more importantly proven winners with experience. They’re going to be very difficult to replace.

When players like silva, kompany and yaya left the replacements were unbelievable. I don’t think our signings since haaland have been anywhere near as good
 
I’m not ruling him out of leaving at the end of the season but do you really think he will have been told he has no future when we are in the middle of a real scrap for the champions league and still the FA Cup to play for.

KDB was different and it looks like he possibly forced the issue and was also coming to the end of his contract.

He is the youngest of our ageing midfield quartet (KDB, Gundogan, Silva and Kovacic ) and the one who has been consistently flogged over the last few seasons.

He is one who will benefit from some additions in the midfield to help reduce his game time.
 
I can’t see anyone paying a significant fee for him, he’s 30 and his engine has gone.

Happy to keep him from the bench next season, least finished of him Gundo and KDB.

He's definitely not been at his best, but that "slowest player" stat is a bit of a red herring for me, as he's also one of the players who covers the most distance in the PL regularly.

A player can make a couple of fast runs a game, but do very little. Bernardo, like Rodri, isn't the fastest, but he can still pop up all over the pitch, and make a big difference to how we hold on to possession.
 
The twitter quotes as a source just has gossip column stuff saying were players are going, and all it says is " Bernardo Silva is heading to Benfica" without any context along with other predictions.

It is just the same stuff that has been going around for 6 months and not what the thread title says.

Why start a thread on this?

The two that seem to be on their way out were truly world class as of now (if that Bernardo rumour turns out to be true), agreed 100%. But they haven't been anywhere near that level for at least two seasons now. Which is sad, as we all remember what they were like in their prime.
 
It’s probably a load of media BS.

He’s been run into the ground by Pep this season. He’s often had to do the running of 2 or 3 players with the players around him ageing week by week.

Pep has said he’ll remember the players had to dig in and fight in the trenches this season. Bernardo was one them.

He didn’t sound like he was going anywhere when he was calling out the media to name the old players last week.

Give him the summer and the CWC off and he’ll back to his best.
