Running thread

I’m planning to train for the Manchester 1 and see how I progress which gives me a goal to aim for but I’ll check the list above to check if any other options work for me. I did fancy 1 in Europe but i'll see.

There are 19 weeks until Manchester, and my longest run so far is 13.3 miles, so I’ve got a solid base to build from.
Valencia is a good one if you do fancy a trip, it's on this Sunday so they will be selling places for next year soon.
Marathons are mega popular now so if you do want to get one you have to move sharpish after the entries open, and if you want to do a major well you will need a lot of luck in a ballott or a ever decreasing qualification time.
I've got three majors and have a place for Sydney next year, but I'm starting to think getting into any of the others (NY, Tokyo, Berlin) is never going to happen as they have millions trying to get in through the ballots and the qualification times are crackers

Parkrun 250 , woo hoo!
25:09

Congratulations on completing your 250th parkrun and your 135th at Dartford parkrun today. You finished in 32nd place out of a field of 209 parkrunners. You were the 29th male and came 4th in your age category VM40-44. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Dartford parkrun remains 00:23:24. Congratulations on your fastest time this year. You achieved an age-graded score of 54.27%. For an explanation of age-grading, please see the WAVA age grading overview.

Fantastic achievement mate

270 days sober today. Still keeping up with the running and aiming to do above 62.2 miles (100km) a month.
Done Blackburn 10k on Sunday and got a PB of 51:46. Previous best was 56:48 so absolutely buzzing with the time. I nearly signed up for the Marathon in April but its sold out maybe gone to soon but this is most consistent I've ran ever, Been running 62.2 miles since May/June time and doing plenty of walking when I'm not running

Signed up for Liverpool half in March and Manchester half in May (or if we're in Budapest thats off) I ran an half recently and beat my previous best so happy with how things are going. Just need to keep it up through the cold winter months

Great effort mate

If your long runs are currently around 13 miles then you easily have enough time to train up for a full marathon in April. Manchester is a good course, as well - relatively flat. I got my PB there. Good luck, mate.

I think they're going down the ballot route for Valencia as well. They've done it for the half next year at least. It's a shame but it's been getting more and more popular over the last few years.

I'll bob out and watch a bit on Sunday when they come my way. That's if I can walk! Got a 35km trail race just outside of Valencia on Saturday with 1450m elevation. Not as prepared as I would've liked though.

I did Manchester in 2018. The day after the derby we should have won the league.. I did it in 5:21 but wasn't running properly towards the end of the training I was running long but only 1 run a week which wasn't anywhere near enough so I feel like I owe it a good going at. I pretty much knocked the running on the head after that apart from a few months in covid I restarted in May this year and been consistent, looking at upping the mileage to 20+ miles a week and seeing how I get on

I can't say I'm surprised they are going down the ballot route mate, it's very popular for good reason, I'm probably more surprised it wasn't a ballot sooner tbh.
The field for the elites is stacked this year, lots of big hitters.
You'll fly a 35k mate, it wouldn't be the elevation that would bother me, more the heat!! Your going through melt!! Haha

I'm the opposite. The heat I can deal with although it's going to be 9/10 degrees at the start which is freezing for me! Looks a good route though so looking forward to it.
