Running thread

#2 has been studied and found to be very good for mental health.

However, it's mainly #1 for me. There's no way my brain could handle running for an hour with nothing to distract me. I listen to podcasts (language learning; health...) and music (I'm always compiling playlists of my favorite running tracks).

If I didn't have these things in my ears, I couldn't be a runner.
Hmm

Shin splits are horrible, i had them for a while, weirdly went after a 5k run once.

I'm planning to take it very easy, if i drop out, i drop out. I just want to be there, ive trained so hard, signed up for it, got 2 nights hotel booked, raised money etc.

Thought of sitting at home is awful.
Like everyone has said be careful you don’t want to seriously damage yourself, slow and steady and see how it goes. If it hurts to sit down, will take a massive effort to get round! Where is the marathon?

I know what you mean on that. My only issue is it depends on where I run. If I can find quiet fields away from traffic noise, headphones are worth it. If it’s anywhere on pavements/roads the traffic noise, and so the level I have to set the volume at to hear it properly, makes it a non-starter for me.

I've decided to create a YouTube channel in order to give me a bit of focus with my running, to get me motivated and to hopefully support my mental health whilst giving some tips based on what I've learnt over 30 years (on and off!) of running.

I'll try and get the odd video on there, covering different aspects of running and prep for distance events etc.

Let me know if you'd like me to have a go at covering any particular topics.
