Running thread

People have died because of people running ? Stop talking shite and get off your moral pedestal
Please just go for a run, on your own, in some nearby countryside. Enjoy running for it's own sake.

Please only partake in positive discussions about running in this thread to encourage and motivate others.

Thank you for your understanding.

Look, we were talking about BLUEMATT23's post about being banned from halves and marathons.

I'm sure everyone is willing to listen to your opinion but it would be wise to read the actual context of the discussion before commenting, especially if you're going to call someone an idiot. Otherwise, you end up looking like an, well...

If you think mass-participation events are OK, despite it being clear that they will spread the virus, then that's up to you I guess.

If you choose to equate the promotion of simple actions that will avoid thousands of deaths to being on a moral pedestal, then so be it.
It's fine - i;ve been called a lot worst than an Idiot in my time.

Just done a 10k along the seafront running from Bournemouth up to Sandbanks (No I did not see Harry) and back.

Felt great going out, nice and bouncy on my feet and noted a decent breeze behind me. Turned round and that decent breeze was more like a gale and the last 4.5k was a real struggle being battered by the wind, sand being blown up in my face and struggling for breath.

Finished in 47:42, last 5 a bit slower but feeling as rough as toast now.
That is a terrific place for it. Sandbanks is a pretty stunning location.

Just to bring a bit of positivity back to this thread. Lockdown has given me my running mojo back. It’s 7 years next month since I broke my hip (running btw).

I’ve not always been on this thread but in the main I find it inspiring with all types of runners/capabilities yet never seen anyone looking down on others.

This week it’s been freezing but I haven’t let it get in the way, where in the past I’d have used it as an excuse to stay in bed. Sun 10k; Tues 5k; today 4m; tomorrow 5m & 10m on Sunday. Some of the sunrises have been stunning - I love getting out in the dark and it being light by the time I get home. Can’t think of any better way of starting the day - well maybe one....

Agreed mate, its a cracking thread.
The morning runs are belting at the minute, been saying the same myself all week about the going out in the dark and home to sunrise, the colds only a problem if your not moving imho, perfect weather for it.

Another 15k starting at 4pm today. It was tough. Hot shower, pizza for tea, and the rest of the evening relaxing watching telly, with very tired legs. And a nice hot cup of Earl Grey tea.

And let's keep the discussion on track guys. I can't tell you how much I, and no doubt others, have taken strength from the positivity of this thread. There is so much good advice given and taken, so please let's not put that at risk.

Yes it is, not sure if you know the area but I much prefer running over Hengistbury head to Mudeford sand spit (famous for the 250k beach huts). Decent hill run, bit of running on the sand and established paths, plus great views over Christchurch Harbour and the Isle of Wight. Try and do it once a week. Flip side is a long drive back for City games.

Going to push myself to get up earlier and get myself out running. Everytime I do it I thoroughly enjoy it, especially at this time of year.

Superb mate, that is great to hear. I think most of us would agree the actual running is only part of going out running. The feel good factor of being outside, improvement to mental health, ability to de-stress after a tough day, and the pleasure from taking in new views, seeing wildlife and visiting woods/forest etc you may never see otherwise. All those combined help you get your mojo back.

Aye thats the battle mate, just going through my nightly head battle of what time to set the clock for, 4.45 it is, seen someone say the other week that running is like drinking in reverse, you feel like shit before it and great after.

That is a great way of looking at it.

I completed a 4 mile run in just over 32 minutes before dawn. So that's 10 miles in 5 days this week with no injury problems. I think that completes my return from injury.

To be sure though, I shall refrain from the usual longer run this weekend and enjoy some beer drinking in forward gear instead. I might even reach 3rd gear if City beat Spurs. :)

Best thread on here as nobody ever starts on each other.

To keep on topic I've been back at running the last 4 weeks with 3 or 4 4ks a week. Not had a drink since we put United out of the cup and i'm 7 pounds lighter than I was at Christmas.
You fucking what mate!?

Aiming to clock up 100 miles for the year by this weekend. Which is a marked improvement on my 100 miles in the last 6 months of last year.

Is it bad to have high bpm's after most runs? I just can't seem to get my heart rate right down.
