I did my first ever Parkrun on Saturday morning as I didn't have anything on. It was a bit of a last minute decision and decided to try it.

It was absolutely fantastic - great atmosphere and had everyone from club runners to walkers. What a great idea and I'm gutted I can't do it every week. What it has done though it got me going for another run and the next free Saturday morning I have, I'll be doing another one.

parkruns such a great thing to do, helped me alot over the years.

I'm back up in Manchester for a long weekend, so did an Irwell-side run from Factory International to Gnome Island in Salford Quays and back.
I suspect they were laughing gnomes this morning having to overlook that crumbling edifice across the river.

Did my first one on Saturday too. I got caught out a bit at the finish, I thought there was still half a km left and a few lads shot past me. I was keeping something in my tank for the finish as well :( Still came 23rd out of 196 which isn't bad. A lot of it was uphill too.

Is that even allowed!?

Going for it this morning. Running 16k(10 miles) I'm fresh from not training yesterday(just 11 k steps) straight up the A556 to Delamere and back. I can't do a park run because I need to be at the bloody dentist at 10.30(not 2.30) in Manchester, so need to be out early.

Parkrun 158

Bushy Parkrun (home of the first ever Parkrun)

Crazy amount of people, was more like a Marathon atmosphere

First half mile just people in way and puddles galore which slowed me down all the way.

24:45

I reckon could do minute quicker if perfect conditions and not held up. Lovely Park.

Just over 20:30 for the parkrun today.

Did a gym session yesterday which definitely affected my legs today. Good to get out and do it though.

Just short of 50km this week with a 12-15km run planned tomorrow which will take me to 60km+. Trying to get my weekly distance back up to 80km post marathon, which should give me a strong enough base to do damage to my PB's from 5km to the marathon.

Just remember Jim Fixx……..

Alexandra Park for me this morning, was packed, managed 18.42 official time although my watch clocked 5k at 18.04 so I'm going with the watch! 18/472 2nd in age group.
Quite happy with that as I've done hardly any speed work for 6months and only really getting back to fitness.
That's a seriously outstanding time that Gaz. Wow!

Serious question, for once!. Do you eat breakfast before your 4am run? I think it's fine to run fasted up to 5 miles say, but don't you need to eat before the longer ones?

I run before breakfast, say about 3 miles. Then porridge after. But have porridge before longer cycling commute.....14 miles or 45+ minutes. Cycling is easier on the stomach though.
I do up to half marathon on an empty stomach, always go for a shit first though.
