Running thread

Hi all
25 miles today at 3.50
Ran from sale to the etihad and then ran to Altrincham
A great run tainted by a cyclist nearly knocking me over in Timperley which really shook me up..
Anyway that's the last big run before Manchester on 3rd April.
Hope everyone's training is going well.

Not ran for 2 weeks. Turned 60 so been away twice for couple short breaks. Got my city in community stuff yesterday so heading out again tomorrow. Also got 2 new pairs of shorts and new running socks in Brighton on one if the breaks. My next training run meant to be 8 miles (equals my longest ever distance). Going to have few shorter ones first before doing that at weekend. Some great efforts recently lads

Wilmslow half today, Big PB, feels great when all the training starts paying off, little over 2 years ago my half PB was 1.53, although I was 3 stone heavier and smoking 30 a day!!! Keep at the training folks, hard work pays
Blimey, that's quite some transformation. Completely different background to mine and slightly better results. Amazing.

Another great time. Double it and add 10 minutes......??

Best wishes.

I did Portobello Parkrun in Edinburgh three weeks ago, in 29:59, then got Covid that afternoon, at a family gathering.

Then eight days without running, and gradually working my way back, before Warrington Parkrun yesterday, in 29:59. It's fairly safe to say that Covid hasn't affected me too badly.

There is one snag though. I had routine blood tests two weeks ago, and the doctor texted me to let me know my iron levels are low. That means the anaemia that I had last year has returned. (It was fixed following a course of iron tablets).

The noticeable effect is shortness of breath, and fatigue, because sufficient oxygen is not getting to my muscles. This makes running much harder. I'll probably need iron supplements for the rest of my life, but at least I will enjoy my running a lot more. Thankfully, prescriptions are free at my age!

Have you tried spatone? Pour it in some fresh orange and off you go. My other half had low iron when pregnant and was advised to take that and her iron levels picked up really well.
