Running thread

Hi all
25 miles today at 3.50
Ran from sale to the etihad and then ran to Altrincham
A great run tainted by a cyclist nearly knocking me over in Timperley which really shook me up..
Anyway that's the last big run before Manchester on 3rd April.
Hope everyone's training is going well.

Did you not fancy doing another 1.2 miles and going sub 4 just to tick it off?! 25 miles 2 weeks out, fair play! Get those legs rested now.

My training plan had me cutting back so just a 12 miler this weekend. Have pushed the tempo a fair bit recently and found that 12 miles harder than the 20 last weekend.

2 weeks to go looking forward to it now.

Same with me. My training plan had doing 12 miles yesterday slowly tapering down. I felt superb yesterday . Good pace, no pain and feeling confident for the marathon now.
Fair play for the lad doing 25 miles pre Marathon.

Have you tried spatone? Pour it in some fresh orange and off you go. My other half had low iron when pregnant and was advised to take that and her iron levels picked up really well.
Thanks for the advice. Trouble is, these supplements you can buy from Amazon are 15mg to 20mg. The ones the doctor prescribed back in December were 210mg, and I took 2 per day! I felt great after I had finished the course.

I'm back at the doctor's tomorrow to discuss my blood test results. I'll see if I can get a repeat prescription.

Yeah it was a good run thanks, I feel really ready now. Bring it on.

Cheers to be honest I probably did too much but really wanting a sub 4 so pushing myself.

I did an 8 miler during the week where I felt so fresh, just couldn't slow down. Managed it in 1hr2mins and could have kept going.

Didn't feel so fresh yesterday on the 12 miler. Sometimes my attitude is wrong, but generally when I do the long slow runs I do struggle with boredom!

Still, a good run in terms of some more time on the legs and some miles at marathon pace which were comfortable.

I'm doing the Hal Higdon training plan which has 4 runs a week which is about all I can get away with due to work/young kids at home.

I'm doing the Hal Higdon one as well. I've had to revert back from intermediate to Novice 2 due to interruptions to my schedule through injury.
I'm hoping for a sub 4 hour 15 which i believe is realistic. Initially I was targeting 4 hours but due to my training schedule being hit with knee problems I'll be ecstatic with 4 hours 15 if my knee can hold out

I'm following the Novice 1 but have managed to stay largely injury free aside from the odd niggle. Have managed to do every session so far driven by the fact it is for charity and how much pain I was in during the London marathon in 2016 from a lack of training!

I managed a1hr48 half a few weeks ago where I ran the first 10 miles at MP and then stepped it up. That was comfortable so I do want to go sub 4. I know finishing it is an achievement but I will be disappointed if I miss out now!

Good luck, hope the knee holds up and you hit your target.

The post-race beer will see me through to the finish one way or another!
