Running thread

Just had a look at some of your recent long runs. Very impressive!
Thanks. I hope you're looking at the right person! (Mark, in Lymm, most runs 5km, 10km, 15km). It helps that I live in a really nice area, with plenty of good places to run.

I'm looking forward to some early morning runs in the Spring. Also hopefully a half marathon after I turn 60 in July. I think Parkruns should be starting soon too. Plenty to look forward to this year.

Oops! Sorry Mark, I was looking at one of Northern Ireland gang. 4:28 over 35km and lots of hills!!!

Keep it up mate and smash that half marathon this summer.

First time in a long time i did some hill sprints today and i feel horrible after it. 4 x 200m steep hill in the middle of a 5k trott and feel worse than when i do a steady 10k. Im hoping that means it had the desired effects.

Anyone get hip/lower back pain running? I've had it for a few weeks now, took 6 days off and tried again today and its still bothering me.

Yes. See page 378 and a post from gaz76 giving advise about ice and heat treatment.

I suddenly got a hip injury like bursitis / sciatica / trapped nerve in early December 2020. I cut down on miles and finally had about 3 weeks off in January. The injury improved but did not disappear.

Then I started some hip exercises and stretches together with ice and heat treatment for a couple of weeks. I then slowly built up the miles again. The "injury" improved more and has nearly gone now.

Had a nice gentle 5k today to finish a good week, ran every day which is a first for a while, legs feel good.

Hopefully an element of normality resuming to life from tomorrow, I’m planning on eating healthy for a few weeks, shift a few excess pounds whilst trying to get more miles in the legs.

Managed 13k today, felt pretty good during the run, at the stage where it is pretty enjoyable..... however seems I may have pulled my groin which is annoying. Anyone any advice on recovery and what stretches can help prevent this in future?

Wow, not been on for a while - but well done on the run club. On the come back trail from injury and just got back to 10k distance - not quite there with fitness but getting there. Might join up soon to prop up the table.

Does anyone find they proper stink after a run? I'm not sure if it's the compression top wicking away loads of sweat or if I'm too low on feul.

Yes I certainly stink. Some of my kit is quite old and infused with years of sweat. Consequently when it gets warm and moist it releases pungent fumes.
