Running thread

Under 23 minutes this morning at Heaton park parkrun. Happy with that as it’s 6 weeks when it was 26 minutes. Just need to keep chipping away at it and get back under 22.

Thanks to the selfish bitch pushing the buggy who knocked my stepson over and didn’t even stop to check if he was ok. Thankfully he’s fine and will be back at it next week.
Nice going that mate, on a tricky course.
Some women can be fucking arseholes when it comes to running, ive lost count of the amount of times I've had to jump into the road when they are running two or three abreast on the wrong side of the road, had two this morning that were running down the cycle path as I was going to work, not a word as they waited until I stopped my bike instead of running them over before they got off the cycle path onto the deserted path next to them, at least they were on the right side of the road! *rant over. Glad the lads OK mate

Thanks Gaz.

My Mrs pulled her at the end because as I said she didn’t even stop to see if he was ok. Almost had to drag an apology out of her, times aren’t that important ffs.

Just a heads up for anyone considering participating in Peel Parkrun in Salford next Saturday.
It's already been cancelled due to the excessively muddy state of the football pitches at the top end of the park and further heavy rain forecast for the coming week.

I was just wondering if anyone has a treadmill at home ?
A walking one not a running one,me and my mrs have started to try going for walks the last few months if we're both off work together, but the weather as been awful a lot of the time, this week Im off thurs, friday and holiday saturday for City but once again the forecast is heavy rain.
How much do they cost to run if anyone has one ?

My fellow blue runners, I am in a conundrum.

Since October 2019 (after deciding to give up the booze and get my life in order) running has become a major staple of my life, it’s got me down to around 10.2stone, 13% body fat & enabled me to run multiple half-marathons & the 2022 Manchester Marathon, this was one of my greatest achievements as I underwent a kidney transplant in September 2004.

To the point then, my best time for a HM was 1 hour 41 mins, & for most of the last 2 years I have ticked over with a 10km on a Monday morning, followed by a 5 miler on a Friday. This was supplemented by 1/2 gym sessions and a long walk (6+ miles) as my plan for the week. Unfortunately since August, I have found it harder & harder to maintain my speed, energy and enthusiasm when running, to the point where it’s proper depressing me that I can’t seemingly do what I used to.

The reason I mentioned having a kidney transplant is because at that time, I piled a load of weight on (having been razor-thin due to illness my whole life) due to the immunosuppressant drugs I take, & was as a result, teased mercilessly after returning to school which if honest, has given me a life long complex about my weight/body image.

Anyway, running has been the only thing to enable me to maintain it, & I am terrified that mixing up my training/easing on the running will lead me to losing all I’ve built, I know weight/body fat % is dictated by diet by up to 90% but I’m in a real rut on what to do. I’d appreciate any advice as I constantly feel my runs are an uphill task, that I am going backwards with me unsure on how to proceed.

Apologies for the long message/life story but just a bit fed up.
So just to follow up on this, did a lotttttta eating this weekend and had a rest of sorts. Did a 10km this morning with an average pace of 7:53 p/m, so maybe all is not lost after all.

5 miles after work. Great getting out and home again before got too dark. I felt every bit of crap I ate and every pint I had over the weekend in that run
I would like to brag with excessive pride, smugness and self satisfaction that I am still in dry January. :-)

I would also like to brag that I ran 5 miles before work. Except I didn't.

But I'll certainly run 5k tomorrow!

Nice one TCP, do you feel any different at all from being off the beer? Not that I like to brag(on mondays) but I have been off it since last September, can't say I feel any different, but I don't miss the 3 day hangovers.

Nice work, did it feel easy at that pace or were you going for it? Reason being its probably better to go easy if your getting back into it, easy as you can, if you go hard it will just make you want to stop imho

Only a year old than me mate, if only I had known about this fitness malarkey 20 years ago when I thought the world revolved around boozing, birds and city!!
Yeah it's certainly done wonders for me.

Was blowing at the end for sure, but just kind of transpired that way & decided to push through with it. I'm off to Munich on Friday so will be doing my next outdoor run on my return next Tuesday so will do a slow paced, longer one then.

Will report back!

Did my usual Castlefield to Exchange Quay circular run thingy this morning as is my habit when I'm staying in Manchester for a match.
It seems this morning that all those annoying little flies that hang around in swarms have appeared, presumably because of the mild weather.
Ended up returning back to my digs with loads of them in my eyes and stuck on my face and chest. Annoying little shits!
