Didn't fancy the Kyzikos Ultra on 17 May?
It's great to have you back posting with us.good morning manchester,
this is your friend kerem from istanbul. i closed my previous account which i opened with my real name before the final in istanbul to help fans. I created the account with my real name so that the City fan would understand I wasn’t a scam. Then, I couldn’t close it, and I kept writing from time to time because I enjoyed posting here. But seeing my real name visible was bothering me, so I closed it last month. Anyway, this is my new nickname. It’s a sarcastic one, of course—I don’t believe in flat Earth. "I believe that science is the only true path in life."
I had told you that I would inform you about races in Turkey that might interest you.
May 17 – Kyzikos Ultra (Erdek). I’m leaving the link below.
Distances: 20K – 35K – 65K
Erdek is an amazing holiday destination. I spent my entire childhood and youth there. It’s only 2 hours by ferry or 4 hours by car from Istanbul. I still randomly jump in my car and go whenever I feel like it.
Besides having one of the most beautiful seas in Turkey, the course is fantastic. The region is home to the ancient Kyzikos civilization, and the trail actually passes through the ruins of an old temple (for distances 35K and above).
It’s a perfect combination of mountains, forests, and the sea. Erdek has one of my favorite coastlines in Turkey.
Also, this is a 2-3-day event. After the race, there’s an after-party at an incredibly beautiful club. The people who attend are really high-quality. Though last time, I was so exhausted that I could only stay at the party for an hour or two.
check the photos.
have a nice weekend

Plus you then have to deal with the overcrowding that comes from people sneaking on the course to run it 'unofficially'. Something I'm not sure how they can properly combat.New York marathon general entries ballot open today, only 315 dollars if anyone fancies a go, oh and the queue to get on the website to enter the ballot is an hour and a half long!!
Infairness to the ballot, there are qualifiers that get guaranteed spots for decent times in all of the majors, I've got into London,Chicago and Boston via a time qualifier,. the time qualifiers tend to start in pens much further Infront of the 'fun' runners, so the only folk crowding them are the ones around the same ability.Plus you then have to deal with the overcrowding that comes from people sneaking on the course to run it 'unofficially'. Got to change the entry requirements for me as well, runners and running clubs are getting shafted with entry spots. Might seem harsh but a ballot because you fancy running in New York shouldn't be enough in my opinion. There should be criteria to meet for the majors.
Tapering is a pain in the arse, I would do a couple of easy little ones just to keep the blood pumpingTapering week for me, feels weird as I feel like I want to do more but hoping the rest helps.
I'm going to try and put a marker down on Sunday for the Hale 10k. Goals are; A:Sub 43, B:Sub 44, C:Sub 45. Then I'll know where to train from to go Sub 40 this year.
Is Manchester regarded as a major?Infairness to the ballot, there are qualifiers that get guaranteed spots for decent times in all of the majors, I've got into London,Chicago and Boston via a time qualifier,. the time qualifiers tend to start in pens much further Infront of the 'fun' runners, so the only folk crowding them are the ones around the same ability.
They really are selling the majors and lots of other races to death now though, more and more folk are interested so it's a huge cash grab, Manchester last year was fucking ridiculous for overcrowding,
Nope, and as they can't even be arsed to reveal the actual course for this year I doubt it ever will be.Is Manchester regarded as a major?
Nice workHale 10k done, 42:41 chip time, under my A goal of 43, happy with that, course isn't completely flat but not hilly either. You can give it a good effort all of the way around. Only about 45 seconds off of my PB.
Looking at the stats, I managed to settle my HR at 6-9k and probably left a few seconds on the table there. Great event though, will do that again.
5k time trial up next on Saturday, see how close I am to Sub 20 again.
