Russian invasion of Ukraine

This does not seem to get as much consideration as perhaps it should.

Putin actually looks deranged when on TV and seems to be on some form of 'crusade' as if he wants to make his mark in history

He seems willing to trash decades of (sort of) progress in undermining the West and establishing a private fortune to try and take over Ukraine - why?

Either he has simply totally underestimated the response or he his other factors are making him so desperate and rushed

Worries me that there may be something in this 'terminal illness' story - if only because I cannot think of other circumstances that would explain such irrational actions
It does appear to have come completely out of nowhere.

Sends his troops to the Ukrainian border
Makes threats against Ukraine joining NATO and being 'surrounded'
Claims Ukraine is led by neo-nazis that are butchering their own people
Invades Ukraine
Threatens nuclear deterrent

Seriously, where has this all come from?

Generalisation there, I am on the left as are my peers and none of us are defending russia on this.

My only criticism is some peoples blind faith in the lies being told on either side because it suits their narative.

This war has shown objectivity is impossible to many.
I don’t have a problem with the left, I’m a Labour voter generally, I said far left.

blaming the West or NATO for this and claiming there’s neo Nazis in the Ukrainian government isn’t objectivity is it?

I watched him this morning, he was asked if more Military power would be sent to the region. Straight away "We were the first to send lethal Military aid"

What is it with our top brass where we have to say this constantly, This line is thrown out everyday by our Ministers but to now have General's spouting it, I don't hear any other Country bragging about anything.
In this case he is only stating fact. We have been in Ukraine for many years as part of Op ORBITAL, training the Ukraine military.

Pro-Russian separatists and Ukraine's National Guard have accused each other of failing to establish a humanitarian corridor out of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol today, the second time the sides attempted to arrange it.

Ukraine 24 television showed a fighter of the Azov Regiment of the National Guard who said Russian and pro-Russian forces that have encircled the port city of about 400,000 continued shelling the areas that were meant to be safe.

The Interfax news agency cited an official of the Donetsk separatist administration who accused the Ukrainian forces of failing to observe the limited ceasefire.

The separatist official said only about 300 people have left the southeastern city.

Earlier, Ukrainian authorities said they planned to evacuate over 200,000 people from Mariupol.

Russia has dropped powerful bombs on residential areas of the city of Chernihiv, a regional official has said.

Vyacheslav Chaus posted a photo of what he said was an undetonated FAB-500, a Soviet-designed 500kg (1,100lb) air-dropped bomb.

"Usually this weapon is used against military-industrial facilities and fortified structures," said Chaus, head of the region of Chernihiv.

"But in Chernihiv, against residential areas."

Officials said 17 people in the region were killed in the shelling
