Maybe Russian air defences have been degraded over the last month to make this possible, or the Ukrainians are realising they're more shit than they thought they were.

Perhaps helicopters crossing from Kharkiv region into Russia is not seen as unexpected so they didn’t intercept or bother to notice - incompetence or arrogance or both.

I think that is highly unlikely, but a fuel dump is a legit target, because they've been targetted in Ukraine.

Wouldn't surprise me if western intelligence services had cracked encrypted Russian transponder codes and provided the data to Ukraine to enable them to make their aircraft look like friendlies to Russian air defence. Either that or the Russians were too arrogant or stupid to use their encrypted modes.

Can we believe their nuclear technology and apparatus are as well honed as they might have us believe? I'm inclined to think, based on recent evidence of military organisation, they'd get their arses whooped. Maybe we should call their bluff and invite them to breach a no fly zone over Ukraine?
