I think the message is more showing the total disconnect there soldiers have with the reality of it. it's something people would write as a revenge note.

To me it sounds like the soldiers firing it honestly believe they are avenging the deaths of children and also believe they were targeting a valid military target, or at least the one who wrote the note did.

He would likely survive and millions of us would die with many millions more having their lives wrecked
