Russian invasion of Ukraine

I think that’s quite an accurate assumption. I think the US and UK navy do lots of military exercises in the Arctic, makes sense as Russia are our main nuclear threat. If there’s any place in the world where our subs would be at the minute it’s probably under thick layers of ice in the arctic.
I'd imagine that there's at least one Vanguard under, or very close to the Arctic Circle at all times.

We have all read that the average russian only sees propaganda on state TV, in russia that may be the case but there are many living outside of that place who have access to global news and still refuse to believe that Ukraine is not full of nazis, that the SMO is a just cause because of Dombas and that all the pictures of dead lining the streets is faked by Western journalism. Further, they have a belief that the average Ukrainian is a lower lifeforms and that the 10 million plus displaced persons are happy to leave home as they have always longed to live in Europe. When these unfortunates arrive in Europe they get drunk and wreck homes and houses where they are living. With that type of mentality of the average russian there is very little hope of any meaningful revolt against putin and his mafia.

And how would they fire their nuc missiles, seeing as they're under thick ice?

Victory parade day in Red Square. A few cruise missiles coming it to spoil the party to take the lot of them out, that'll do it :)

Look, I’m no expert on economics, politics or football ;) but I’m not having this phasing-out of gas coming in from Russia. Various govts are giving it until the end of the year before halting the supply. They’re obviously hoping the war will be over by then and their supplies won’t have to be phased out after all. It’s almost summer and I’m sure if the supply was stopped tomorrow nobody would freeze to death. Get it stopped, put the workers on furlough or re-employ them on massive renewable energy projects. It can’t be that difficult and then watch Russia go bust within weeks. These politicians talk the talk but that’s about it.

The thing about castigating the Russian people en masse for the crimes of their leaders is that it isn’t entirely fair, but it’s a damn sight less unfair than what is happening to the people of Ukraine.

Russians need to be made to feel (at the very least) hugely uncomfortable and ashamed about this for at least a generation. We all have a part to play in this whenever we get the opportunity.

In the right circumstances I would have no hesitation vocalising this. They need to be made to feel ostracised imo. It’s not a flawless approach, but the alternative is even less appealing.
