Not difficult. The grunts won't attack anymore without a senior officer with them and they're easy to spot with the clean uniforms.
Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if his own men didn't do the deed.

The same way as they got Bin Laden and many others of the Al-Qaeda hierarchy . Satellites and special forces . And the fact their transmissions are wide open to the Ukrainian forces . Also the easiest way to get rid of a commander is to salute him out in the field !
 
Russian Tank forces are nearly back up to pre war levels with the delivery of new tanks all across Ukraine...
Yes the bone yard has been rummaged through and many hundreds of T62s have been brought back into service.
The only problem? There's an accute shortage of trained crews and 115mm shells that they fire which the Russian army no longer use.
On the plus side the turret doesn't store ammunition around the turret so turrets flying into space is less likely - though a turret hit still probably kills the crew.
For the record this is like the British army rolling out Mark 7 or later Centurians onto a modern battlefield.
