Russian invasion of Ukraine

Daily Kos Update.

Russia, under Putin, is an expansionist, nationalist, undemocratic regime.

Unfortunately, its military, however incompetent, far exceeds the capability and manpower than that of Ukraine. Should Russia decide to plod on, it's virtually inevitable that they'll realize a military "victory" of sorts against Ukraine.
We the west should just send in a dozen F35s and destroy the Russian front line in the Donbas. Putin won't do a thing apart from more bluster. But the war will be over much quicker.

According to the Americans the Russians are stealing Ukranian grain and shipping it to African States to sell. We need to put a stop to this immediately. All possible grain ship exports through the bosphorus should be checked and seized if the AIS tracking system is turned off. Legally AIS has to be on for any shipping over 250tonnes.

Except Ukraine has a cause, and will be forever supplied by western powers.

Russian forces have neither of those.

Ukraine is getting stronger and Russia weaker.
Totally agree, when the Russians invaded 8 years ago the west did nothing. Ukraine stood alone, outnumbered and out gunned. Now the west have finally woken up, we have started what we should have done 8 years ago. As long as we continue to send arms the Ukrainians will fight and will win.
The only negative is if Europe decides cheap oil and gas is more important.

Russia can’t even arm the soldiers they have properly let alone the new drafts.

there are entire units of the Russian army stocked with WW2 rifles.
The Russian leadership really doesn't care how many of their own troops die. Herd them to the slaughter in the meat grinder seems to be the current strategy.
3 to 5 Russian casualties for every Ukrainian casualty seems to be the way things are. currently unfolding.

Ukrainian soldiers are being trained to use the HIMARS rocket system.
Training in Germany apparently.....3 weeks training before they can go to the front line.
USS Gravely also docked in Gdynia,Poland, yesterday.
Maybe weapons supply???

Seen summat on CNBC earlier......said a Russian soldier is killed on average, every 5 minutes.
Roughly 300 per day.

Populations of 110 million vs 44 million. At current casualty rates of between 3 and 5 Russians for every Ukrainian, Russia loses in the end even if they somehow manage to conjour up new equipment that they are also losing at a frightening rate.
