Russian invasion of Ukraine

It's interesting the Russians keep making smaller and smaller goals now.. earlier it was takeover of ukraine, then takeover of south east, now its some "towns" but this seiverodonetsk town or something.. it's not even a super important town and it's taken 3 months and Russia still doesn't have it.

I hope Ukraine can hold on and make it as long and as painful as possible for Russia.

And hopefully it can destroy russian supply lines with long range artillery.. (starve the Russian troops out) to make them withdraw and get its territory back. But that will be a very long process.

Either way Ukraine has taught us all a lot about a lot of things we thought we knew but didn't.

This indicates it isn't just Putin that is sabre rattling. Other people in important positions are out to cause problems.
It doesn't matter if they do not invade tomorrow or in a month's time, the point is being made we want the Soviet Union back.
Worrying.
It's worrying (or reassuring) that Lithuania is a NATO member, an attack on one country is an attack on all. The ruSSians can't be that crazy can they?

Probably not, but the continual talk of nuking the West (without the inevitable response) breads a bunch of Zelots that could get careless, this making MAD more likely.

Not quite, the current bunch are Fascists, previously they were Communists.
Indeed it amazes me how they became the very thing they supposedly despise.
Beware the Counter Revolution I guess.
To me its the same thing, the people at the top are very rich and powerful, the rest aren't.

The short answer is yes but in reality until Ukraine is defeated they cannot start another invasion, they do not have the military capability.
What could happen is what Russia did 8 years ago in Ukraine. Russians that are in Lithuania start an uprising, armed and backed by Putin. I doubt Nato would intervene as its not an invasion.

As a few suggested on here,he won't stop at Ukraine...
If he's successful that is.

Speaking at an event with young entrepreneurs in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared to ominously hint at further territorial expansion.

"It's impossible — do you understand? — impossible to build a fence around a country like Russia. And we do not intend to build that fence," Putin said, according to Sky News.

"When he [Peter the Great] founded the new capital, none of the European countries recognized the territory as Russian. They all recognized it as Swedish territory. The Slavs together with the Finno-Ugric peoples had always lived there, moreover, this territory had been under the control of the Russian state. Same going towards the west — Narva and his first expeditions," Putin said, according to a translation.

Regards Peter The Great invading countries.

"Why did he go there? He went there to take it back and strengthen it, that's what he was doing. Well, it seems it has also fallen to us to take back and strengthen [territories], and if we take these basic values as fundamental to our existence, we will prevail in solving the issues we are facing," he added.

Ukraine is running out of Artilary amunition for ut's own guns. They are now very nearly totally reliant on supplies of Artillary and Ammo from the West.

I think Aslin was fighting in Syria against the Islamic state before he went to Ukraine in 2018, so he obviously enjoys it.
This is a message to all foreign fighters that if we capture you ,we will kill you.
Could scare some off - or could end up galvanising the foreign soldiers further - knowing that there's no point surrendering - so may as well keep going to the very end.
