Russian invasion of Ukraine

Could really do with the Russian people rising up against Putin on this
the Russian public are fed the "news", like the uk, by the similarly puppet
media. Their masters are the rump of the KGB, ours are the "old money" tory gang. Both depend on the "mushroom" strategy of feeding us on shit and keeping us in the dark. As long as they exist, democracy is their target, they have all the means to survive, in our case it's worked for 500+ years.
Feudalism meets communism, with handshakes (behind closed doors obvs) ffs.
Apparently, Netflix have turned down the rights to make a series based on the saga, citing "credibility issues"...!!! They have a point, and then some.

Ukraine first then onwards to Moldova to help those oppressed people of Trans-Dniester...again, purely in a "peace keeping" role you understand!
The possibly the Baltic states as there are also an awful lot of "ethnic" Russians there. That really will test the resolve of NATO.

I believe he shouldn’t have either felt the need nor had the option to do this to the Ukraine. But that’s in the past, I’ve formed my opinion and voiced it.

NATO aren’t going to do anything are they… other than defend NATO countries, Putin isn’t going to do declare war on NATO, it’s suicide. He might go into Georgia and other former soviet (non NATO) countries if they express a desire to join NATO though.
You still think this is about NATO ? Seriously ?

That's some revisionism, but if you believe it, you believe it.

It is revisionism, but that's an integral part of how we study history. The idea it was an unpopular or controversial policy doesn't really hold up, at the time everyone was in favour of it - public, politicians, military, diplomats.

The idea that it was a bad idea or a sign of weakness from a small cabal came primarily from the book Guilty Men in 1940, commissioned by Lord Beaverbrook (owner of the Daily Express which was the biggest paper in the world at the time).

That book and Beaverbrook's backing of it was incredibly influential, but since the 1950's after everything was said and done and research and information about everyone's actual military situations pre-war came to light, it's been increasingly accepted as a good policy and many of the claims in Guilty Men have been disproven. JFK famously wrote his thesis about it in response to the Beaverbook book.

It's actually taught at schools now as an example of how history is not set in stone and how opinions of events change over time as new information comes to light and emotional ties and propaganda lose power.
