Russian invasion of Ukraine

The only concern in all this retreating for me is, are they getting their guys out of there so they can drop the motherload or is Ukraine genuinely getting the upper hand?
I was thinking the same thing. Although I do think we’ve been conditioned over the years that the mighty red army is too powerful and would overrun most countries, when in reality it’s dog shit!! But my worry would still be that Putin the nonce would drop a tactical nuke/ chemical weapon once the Ukrainians had took back what is rightfully theirs.

It seems pretty unlikely to put it mildly that there is any kind of masterplan, nuclear or otherwise, behind this, given that it's clearly a chaotic rout.

Even the Chinese Government would abandon them if they chose to drop a nuke to try and 'win' the war. NATO or no NATO, it would become a United Nations issue and Russia would be well and truly fucked.

We’ve had a succession of surrender monkeys on this thread who have either called for a negotiated outcome, the stopping of western support, Ukrainian surrender to save lives etc etc. They all look like a bunch of mugs now. Let’s see if any come back on to admit they got it spectacularly wrong.
Totally agree, there is no way that Ukraine could countenance entering into any negotiations whilst they were being attacked.
However, I do think that now is perhaps the time to extend the olive branch and negotiate to save further bloodshed.....
But.....the terms are simple.... Fuck off out of our country, take your troops out of Crimea and agree to pay any bill that we send. Handing over of all commanders and troops accused of war crimes.
AND ....Putin to stand trial...although besides the obvious war crimes, supporting terrorism/genocide, Im not sure if the ICC have a charge for being a nonce.
I'm not hopeful though.

I’m in two minds about that. One thing Ukraine have done hugely is win the information war, that has led to a lot of unverified information on the likes of Twitter in particular. The bbc tend to go off verified information from the U.K. and US military that always has a bit of a lag. It will never provide information as quickly as Twitter, and therefore threads on forums, will.

They’re not far off though if you read the latest report.
Having been an instigator of the charge against the BBC's less than impressive reporting of this war, I submit as evidence the ISW map currently on their website. It is dated 29th August (being 13 days, nearly a fortnight old).
With the Ukrainians performing as if they are Patton on speed, such a map in my opinion, is condescending to the license payers and highly unprofessional. Sadly, that is an opinion of mine that has grown over the years. I can fully understand those people who rail at the license fee.

If it was up to that lot, it'd be a Russian flag flying over Buckingham Palace now.
