How is this gonna play out now? Surely Ukraine aren't just gonna stop attacking and just give up their land. Then what though? Is the **** bluffing, will China have something to say? Very worrying escalation, if the **** does annex those areas.

Russia losing the area, which they want due to the natural elements, decide to force the issue as they are now getting hammered. They now expect Ukraines allies to just let that go as they will strike big, and strike hard.

Nothing will change, Ukraine have been hitting bases in Crimea, I don't doubt they will continue in the other areas. Putin is clearly washed up and playing for time.

Interestingly there is a "Rossiya - Special Flight Squadron" flight inbound to New York from Moscow, a reminder that russian planes are not allowed in most western air space, especially not military planes. It's not currently in "western airspace" as it's over international waters, but it doesn't have many options from where it currently is, so we can only assume it's got permission.

On further investigation, it's almost certainly the same plane putin used to go to the conference in Uzbekistan, with China and the other countries that attended the SOC meeting.
