On further investigation, it's almost certainly the same plane putin used to go to the conference in Uzbekistan, with China and the other countries that attended the SOC meeting.

That would be the dream, however I doubt he's anywhere near that plane sadly, it would likely "crash".

I'm curious though, what is it doing, I doubt it's a diplomatic change over, as that could still be done by commercial flights, via other countries.

Interestingly there is a "Rossiya - Special Flight Squadron" flight inbound to New York from Moscow, a reminder that russian planes are not allowed in most western air space, especially not military planes. It's not currently in "western airspace" as it's over international waters, but it doesn't have many options from where it currently is, so we can only assume it's got permission.

Agree but the US granted him and his delegation an invite last week. I think that’s a bizarre decision but no crazier than the fact that Russia (post USSR 1991) still holds the presidency of the Security Council, the UN’s body delegated to make peace.
