He willingly allowed Starlink to be used and paid a fortune to beef up cyber security for Starlink as a result. The US did not pay for that. Much more than the cost of the kit.

Blowing a place to shit and using human wave tactics to take a place has always been Russian military doctrine. They don't give a shit about civilians or indeed there own men.
Compare and contrast with Ukrainian (Nato) tactics - advance, cut off, block the defenders from getting out with their vehicles.

Who can get to Beryslav first?
The Ukrainians going down the T04-03 from the north (who have just taken MyLove) or the Ukrainians who have starting attacking down the T22-07 from the Inhulets crossing.
Or the Russians who have been all been ordered to retreat South on to the T22-07.
If its the Ukraunians then it's 10k-15k of trapped Russian forces in the North of the Kherson region.

The Russians have been holding land north of the river. There are only a few bridges so looks like they are in full scale retreat to get back over the river. Or just regroup to hold the bridges in kherson. A significant loss of territory for them.
