That’s the worry with their nukes, they obviously don’t maintain their equipment very well, imagine them taking off with a nuke and blowing up their own city!

The most complex part of a nuclear missile is getting the warhead to explode correctly so the most likely outcome would be the conventional explosives in the warhead would explode without causing a nuclear reaction leaving little damage other than spreading radioactive material over a few hundred square yards. Effectively it would just be a dirty bomb.

1966 a USA B52 with 4 hydrogen bombs on board exploded during refueling and 3 of the bombs landed on Palamares near Vera in Spain the other in the Med.
Only the non nuclear parts of 3 of them detonated but they spread plutonium over a wide land area that persists to today.
