Russian invasion of Ukraine

I’d like to see a push towards Mariupol. Imagine the psychological effects liberating this town will bring. Will also split the occupiers in two which can’t be good for supplies etc.

The main problem to a peaceful outcome is what Russia actually wants.
There have been no clear demands. The motive for the war changes by the day.
So we have to judge them on their actions.

This isn't a simple land grab. It is genocide in action.
This world that i thought wouldn't allow this to ever happen again is largely standing by watching it happen.

Germany being a past perpetrator should be doing more than would be expected.
Yet they are dragging their feet at every step possible.
If this is for some economic reason for the future, then they should hang their heads in shame.
However, there may be other motives we are not privy to. Either way, it seems they are firmly looking after their owns interests.

There are a lot of countries that have gone way up in my estimation, with Poland being at the top of the list.
They have opened their borders, provided aid. They have donated weapons.
Not once moaning, they have just got on with it.

Thankfully, it appears the sanctions are really starting to kick in.
What we are left with is one megalomaniac who time on this earth is nearly over. The sooner the better.
Russia's allies are already backing off. His own people are finally asking the right questions.
The mess he has left (and the manner of his soon to be departure), will hopefully put off even the most extreme replacement.
Their demands are for Ukraine to cease to exist.
Or have you really not been paying attention?

It seems that Germany is not going to deliver tanks, nor has it authorized their shipment

Have read in a couple of places that some military minded people believe there is a tactical merit in a deliberate organised withdrawal of a location to suck in a higher concentration of the enemy into a pre-designated kill zone that has just been vacated - sounds plausible to me as a strategy. Although I suspect I may be reading what I want to hear rather than they are making some advances on the battlefield.
This was actually a thing we trained for in the Cold War. I was in the army in those days and we practiced this with live firing in Canada at Suffield.

You would think that if one country would learn from appeasement it would be Germany. It would appear that both Germany and ruSSia have not learnt the lessons of the past and are hell bent on repeating the mistakes of our forefathers.

10 Challenger 2 MBT is a waste of time. These are now obsolete from our armed forces. To be able to use these there would have to be a considerable amount of logistical backup. It would be the heaviest tank on the battlefield and would need specialist ARVs (armoured recovery vehicles) to recover ‘dead’ tanks though battle damage or breakdown. Breakdown, now there is a thing, if it breaks down you will need a complete spares backup and don’t get me started on the specialist 120mm rifled ammunition as all new tanks us smooth bore guns. Bring the German Leopard into the mix and you have another set of problems.
