Arguably better news than F-16's

Oh definitely in almost all aspects, other than ‘simplicity’ and operational usage - which are probably what Ukraine needs in the short/medium term, as they migrate from their ex Soviet arsenals.
The F16 is relatively old, but newer versions/variants are around, and it is the most produced & deployed fighter/bomber in the world currently.

For the longer term, then the latest versions of the Swedish planes are just a level below F35’s.

He seems to stay in Donbas, probably out of range of putin for most of the time (and sadly Ukraine too).
