I would imagine that NATO and the European Union, at least the key players therein, will have already discussed what to do should the situation in Ukraine unfold quickly, as it may in the coming weeks. While those two will put up their usual protestations, the last thing either Hungary or Turkey would want would be a belligerent Ukraine next door either. Allow them to put up their sham protests, so as to save face, and then fast-track Ukraine’s entry.

Don't think he is backing down either. He is a dead man walking either way. Wagner haven't commented on the Ria Novosti claim.
