Russian invasion of Ukraine

Putin is laughing at all of us. We've voted in weak willed clowns to govern us and, coupled with everyone turning into wet fanny wipes over covid, we've created a perfect storm where Russia can do what the fuck they want without fear of consequence or retribution.

This is what happens when you fixate on wokism, inclusivity, diversity and social justice. Light your candles, unfurl your banners, march down the street, tearfully applaud Footballers.

Putin doesn't give a fuck.

I'm astonished some people don't realise this.

Military involvement by NATO must be the very last resort, ie, if Russia actually attacks a NATO country.

What's happening in Ukraine is awful. A war between NATO and Russia would be immeasurably worse. A conventional war would have only one outcome... a crushing defeat for Russia. Then, when all is lost for them there is only one military option left for Russia and that leads effectively to the end of civilisation as we know it.

Article 5 is an attack on a NATO member, if attacking UK soldiers constitutes an attack on a NATO member why didn’t Iraq or Afghan trigger article 5 when UK soldiers died? It surely has to be an attack on the country

what a pathetic post

This is going nuclear, Russia won’t attack a NATO country conventionally, the first missiles they fire will be hypersonic.

IMO The fearmongdring about Russia’s super duper Better than anyone else’s nuclear missiles really is getting to the point of comedy when we’re seeing their 4th gen fighters get shot out of the sky by Ukrainian 3rd gens and armoured convoys being wiped out with 40 year old javelins.

The US and NATO have been outspending Russia 20-to-1 for 30 years and I find it beyond credibility that their nuclear technology has outstripped everyone else’s when the evidence shows they’ve not managed to keep up on cheaper and simpler areas of defence.

The line you keep trying to spin that MAD isn’t going to be mutual because Russias got better nuclear weapons doesn’t convince, if I had to guess it’s the opposite and Russia knows it.

I’ve never fought, well not apart from Stamford bridge, elland road, st James park and the swamp etc, but I’d quite like to go and shoot some fucking russians
As two 65 year olds we are out of touch with some of today's weapons systems but give us an

SLR

No, not even that, the country has to request help, and it only applies above the Tropic of Cancer, and only mainland. Cape Verde not included for example. See Falklands.

Don’t think repelling an invasion by NATO member troops can trigger article 5, I think you have to attack the country itself.
