One of the many aircraft maintenace issues occurring in Russia at the moment I would think. It's what happens when you stop getting western sourced spares or have to buy Chinese knock-off parts. Lots of things in Russia are difficult to source at the moment - especially specialist western equipment.
Of course the Ukrainian special forces that were operating in Russia and Sudan may have had a hand in maintainance issues developing...

Initial reports suggesting the aircraft was owned by Wagner, a private military company in Russia, have been disputed. Local sources claim the aircraft belonged to the Malian military and was carrying military cargo.

Quite possibly, until fairly recently british forces were training local forces there to go after IS militia's, but we pulled out due to the wagner presence in the area growing.
