No doubt about it. But I think European governments are savvy enough to know that giving up is not an option with or without US backing (or at least I would hope that that is the case).

If this unlikely scenario were to play out, and Europe was struggling, I doubt the US would stand idly by.

Events in Washington currently are probably the most important thing for Ukraine; I've little insight into the shenanigans other than that funding is currently at risk and the Republican party are populated by absolute lunatics.

I expect Trad Republicans (50% of HOR and 80% of senate members) to bring forward a Ukraine support bill in the next month.

Looks like future support will be monetary and Ukraine will have to source the equipment with presumably longer leadtimes.
