Russian invasion of Ukraine

This report contains an Interesting breakdown of the various outcomes that the West is afraid of, including:-

"They are afraid of Russian defeat: it means Russia breaking down, collapsing, a humanitarian catastrophe, a refugee crisis of a huge scale, uncontrolled spread of nuclear weapons and excessive strengthening of China."

It seems obvious to me that the best outcome is to drive Russia out of Ukraine, degrade their ability to attack again and to make sure that if they ever do try to attack again, they will instantly feel the full force of NATO.

The best outcome is:
1. Drive them out of Ukraine.
2. Engineer a Gorbachev type leader.
3. Hang out the possibility of associate membership of EU and eventually NATO, pointing out that this is their best bet against China. In return Russia would have to hand over war criminals, return the children and take part in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Yes, I know.

Some years ago, one of Putin’s henchmen talked about the Russian empire stretching from Vladivostoch to Lisbon. Note, the chinese partially control Vladivostoch now.

They need to realise pushing that ideology will result with the destruction and further break up of what Russia is. They can’t roll over Ukraine, what happens when the rest of NATO start taking aim at them?
