Russian invasion of Ukraine

From "The Analyst":

FRONTLINE & AWACS SHOOT DOWN 14-15 JAN

On the north east front the Ukrainians made some small gains.
At Torske, where Russia has continuously pushed to widen a protruding salient, they have continued to make some very small advances, but it’s been more of an adjustment to their positions as they gave up land elsewhere.
No changes in the Bakhmut area and no major moves around Klieshievka.
The Berkhivka front is also now far more stable.
At Avdivka there has been continuous fighting but it’s not resulted in any changes of land control. There is still a great deal of fighting over Stepove but it remains a grey zone for the most part.
The whole eastern front remains deeply frozen and snow is expected again in the next week.
Russian forces are fighting around the Robotyne salient but have gone nowhere.
Nothing has changed around Krynky. Ukrainian drone activity is so heavy that Russia is telling its own troops to be careful about what they shoot at - they’ve been killing their own drones by mistake.
Last night there was breaking news that Ukraine had managed to shoot down a Russian A50 AWACS plane orbiting the Sea of Azov region and presumably occasionally closing with the front lines in the Zaporhizia region. If true as seems likely, with several reports indicating that it and an Il-22 SIGINT aircraft were also downed, it is a major loss for Russia. They only had four useful A50’s and the Il-22 was ancient and one of the only ones of its type left. Only a Patriot could have reached that far and taken such aircraft out. Given that the two should have been able to detect a Patriot radar signature that they had no idea they might be the target or didn’t take precautions and move is frankly astonishing.

Overall the Russians have barely moved in almost six weeks - what they did gain is minimal given the effort, cost and loss. Russia’s offensive this winter has been remarkably ineffective given the situation Ukraine faces without American aid. Pro-Russian sources harp on about the gains but they’re generally pathetic. They piled on the pressure in weapons and manpower at Avdivka and almost everywhere else and gained almost nothing for their losses.
Ukraine held and holds the line! They shall not pass!

Slava Ukraini !

I'm pretty confident these 2 aircraft will be confirmed today.
Will also be confirmed the "shooters" was Air Defence on Kerch Bridge.
Problems with "Friend or Foe" system.

Slava Ukraini.
Probably.
i Think the ilyushin-22 landed on fire But the A50 is now a very expensive submarine.

Western nations gave Ukraine some sort of long range AA capability at the start of November and this has resulted in the loss of 8 Russian fighter bombers, 25+ helicopters and now an A50 AWACs plane and severe damage to an Ilyushin-22 support plane.
Definately not Patriot as the range isn't long enough.
Rumours indicate everything from the new long range US AARAM and the UK-Polish CRAM to other long range AA weapons.
Whatever it is it's working wonders and has the Russians well and truely spooked.
