But ultimately it all comes back to the fact that Johnson can (and will) just say no, and then their only option is a more drawn out process to get rid of him.

Which means at least 6 weeks from now before any potential vote and even then only *if* you can actually get some Republicans to agree to it, which is easier said than done. They’re all brave until the MAGA wing threaten to primary them.

Where does 6 weeks come from?

What Johnson needs to do is realise ( and there is evidence he is. Slowly ) that bipartisanship on matters is his life line. If he doesn’t he will always be held to the MAGA nutters. Bipartisan matters gives him a shield in the democratic vote he won’t have if he avoids bipartisan politics.

He doesn't. He is just the leader in the house and the GOP are expected to follow him. But they don't have to same way MPs can vote against the party whips. Happens all the time.

It's not just him. The shit house element of the GOP runs deep and he's just the front man.

Basically Trump wants things going badly as that makes Biden look bad and him look good. They Basically want nothing good to happen but they want to avoid the blame for it when they cause the delay or vote stuff down.
