Russian invasion of Ukraine

No one knows If it's a bluff or bullshit. I'm just not prepared to accept the risk. Zelensky has accepted he needs to sue for peace.

We've already gone over this. Is it possible to hold the belief that it is a risk and not be a coward in bunker in the back garden?

Fortunately, neither of us are responsible for calling that bluff or folding. But the fact you would be playing with others' lives not just your own might make you consider what course you would take more than what counts for just the shallow dickwaving on an Internet forum.

Maybe you dont need to start throwing out insults because other people are more readily able to accept the state of reality than you.
Both decisions would be gambling with the lives of others. Capitulation has an orders of magnitude higher likelihood of a negative impact on lives and if beliefs about Putin's ultimate end goal are correct then the number of lives affected will be as high as if a full scale nuclear war broke out. I'm sure Chamberlain's thinking was similar to yours when he was making his "Peace for our time" speech.

This is now escalating and we have a government potentially drawing us into world war 3 - which no one wants
This government is doing less to help Ukraine in the conflict than the previous one did.

UK ministers from the last administration regularly visited Kyiv, I don't think any of this lot have yet, yet you're saying they're dragging us into WW3.

The reason Ukraine can now use storm shadow on russian territory is not down to Starmer, it's down to the fact the US have unloccked the systems targetting mechanism.

It's quite amusing reading how you don't know if putin is bluffing or serious, yet with your hotline to trump you tell us you know exactly what he'll do, they're both serious liars and you know it.

He's been saying the same thing for years. Why do you think he won't try to force a deal? When he wanted to make one with Kim and made one with the Taliban?

What are the barriers to him making a deal? Does he stand to benefit on going back on his word on this issue?

It's not that there aren't realistic scenarios for him not forcing a deal. But it's more likely than not.

Btw, I place greater weight on Zelensky's reaction to Trump's words, than Trump's words on their own.

Thanks for the pedantic point. Israel cannot threaten the world because they do not have a huge nuclear arsenal, what they could do is threaten to drag in global power and create a wider conflict. See the rationale for why South Africa developed nuclear weapons and their planned used. Samson option is a similar idea.

I'd rather not test the theory he is bluffing.
That's how he beats people like you, hopefully the decision makers aren't like you. We will find out in due course.

Nothing wrong with that statement. Ukraine has lost the war. Russia needs to come to the table and name it's terms. Ukraine need to accept that they have lost territory and come to terms with it and demand assurances and protection from the West to prevent further losses.

All of what you say is true, but it does not negate the fact that Ukraine is defeated and that the war needs to stop and that conflict is not worth starting WW3 or a nuclear conflict over.
They haven't lost tho.
