Most of the world are very dependent on Russia/Ukraine for things like wheat and sunflower oil - I imagine we'll all start feeling this in terms of shortages or (more) price rises soon :-(

There was an interesting interview on Radio 4’s Farming Today this morning. A Dutch farmer in Ukraine was explaining how they simply cannot transport the wheat out of the country, and 75% of its crop is exported. There are just no ships in the ports, which aren’t functioning anyway, and it’s just not feasible to shift the tonnage to Europe via truck or rail, the latter of which runs on a different gauge. Prices will inevitably increase this year, and if crops aren’t planted and harvested this summer, they’ll only rise further next year.

I'm guessing as world supplies get choked wealthier countries will mop up what there is and poorer ones will sadly starve.

As Germany wont/can't stop using Russian gas they could at least send decent up to date arms to help Ukraine defend itself. 40 year old equipment that cannot be used isn't much good, or is Germany afraid that if they do that putin will turn the tap off ?

For taking down something like an S-400 you'd be looking at using 5th generation fighter jets with multiple aircraft support and throwing the kitchen sink at it. Ukraine have got low end 4th generation aircraft. Unless it offered them a significant enough tactical advantage to justify using up a large amount of resources they'd be best leaving it well alone.
 
BBC News have just reported that Russia has bombed one of the train stations being used to evacuate Ukrainian refugees.

40 killed, 100+ wounded.

Not my doubts.

I was more generalising about the false flag stuff being peddled in dark corners of the internet and certain media outlets (Fox/OANN/RT). This incident removes ANY doubt from all but the rabid Q-Annon weirdos and other cultists.

When I've seen interviews recently with younger Russians, you can tell from their demeanour and their carefully chosen words that they're clearly accessing media from outside Russia, but they're wary about saying anything critical for fear of reprisal. When it's older people 40+, particularly women for some reason, they're still getting everything fed through television.

Russia just launched a missile at Kramatorsk train station in the Donetsk region, killing 30 civilians who were waiting to leave and injuring hundreds.

There are videos and pictures available, it's awful.

Putin knows NATO and the UN will not put boots in Ukraine or commit to a NFZ, so he has the green light to keep pushing the boundaries of targeting civilians.

Eventually, we will need to say enough is enough and rock up
