Russian invasion of Ukraine

Be it the transfer thread, matchday forum or the Ukraine thread,we have group of people who have a knee jerk reaction to anything if they don't get their desired outcome instantly.
This is not a game the Ukrainians are playing, this is about real life and it will take as long as it takes and they need their allies to remain steadfastly behind them.

Come on mate, football is easy on FIFA and Football Manager so don’t see why war can’t be a breeze much like the campaign is on Modern Warfare…

It’s clear that this won’t go on for years though. Ukraine went into this offensive eyes wide open that this was a one-shot deal and Russia have set their stall out clearly that their tactic now is to simply wait out the Western support.

We all hope that Ukraine make an imminent big breakthrough and plow through Crimea, but as already said, unfortunately every day brings us closer to the negotiating table.
I can't see a negotiation. Although I know that's what you want. I just see a long war of attrition.

With only a small amount of information made available and with lots not being made public, where do you get the background information to be realistic?

Seems there’s some on here that will take a pessimistic view if we go more than two days without being told about a major Ukrainian victory.
The Daily Kos seems pretty insightful

Why is it a one shot deal? Ukraine has more and better equipment now than then when the war started. The Russians have significantly less and worse.

Let's be clear, this war is benefitting NATO. It's Ukraine that is suffering. The war will continue for as long as they want or until they win.

Some of the videos coming out show just how difficult it is, the foliage has grown so thick and dense both sides are getting ambushed for fun at times.

They badly need jets now, how can they be expected to advance into positions already zeroed in by artillery and mined to fuck. It's not fair on the brave men and women going into battle they deserve better.

The fact they have achieved so much already is just testament to how incredible Ukrainian resolve is.

The accepted military
At the same time of year as of the Ukraine counter offensive. So all the fields, hedgerows and trees etc were in full bloom, which gave cover to the Germans in defensive positions.
In Normandy the ultimate victory was the ability of the allies to grind out territorial gains with superior material supply which the German army couldn’t. I think Russia will sit tight on the gains as result and let Ukraine keep battering away until their losses become untenable. Maybe ending in UN peace keeping force along the lines of Cyprus. Alternatively we could obliterate the planet as Putin’s farewell gift.

It is Russia that is losing the battle of attrition.
