Yeah from the maps I’ve seen like this it’s the most fortified area anywhere in the Russian controlled areas. Tokmak is seen as a key strategic area due to all the road links.

Compared to further east where Ukraine has gained more ground ,the Russian defence is less dense ,which backs up your point
