Russian invasion of Ukraine

We received a clear signal that China is working to end Russia's war against Ukraine, - Kuleba.

After a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Guangzhou, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said: he received clear signals that China is not looking for "temporary solutions" but is working on a sustainable and strategic end to Russia's war against Ukraine.

In particular, the head of the Foreign Ministry noted that China's support for Ukraine's territorial integrity was the first and most important point in the negotiations. According to him, Wang Yi "very clearly and repeatedly" stated that China's position in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is unshakable.
Hopefully that means territorial integrity based on agreed international borders rather than some Russian definition that puts Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk in Russia.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the Chinese strategic aim is to end up with a chunk of eastern Russia that used to be part of one of the Chinese dynasties.

Surely it is historical Chinese land and the ethnic Chinese need protecting from russian persecution, would be crazy to see unfold. russia wouldn't have the ability to stop it either. They might just invade it economically and take over industries like they're doing in Africa.

China will want Ukraine to stay out of nato they backed Russia then found out they were a flop

Ukraine being in NATO has zero impact on China, they only complained about it as russia is their ally. Chinas biggest problem will be all the knowledge of modern warfare being gained by the west and what future conflicts will look like, China would want to use it as a testing ground themselves if they could get away with it.
