Russian invasion of Ukraine

We should be categorical that secondary sanctions would be applied in the event of any trade being done, then he has a choice to make. The risk would be too big for him. Just one example would be Azure and AWS no longer being able to operate here and them having to sell the data centres at huge discount to a European competitor. He can't afford the US to lose the high tech monopoly.
I'm afraid that the idea of Europe taking on US in a trade war over Russian sanctions is for the birds.

Who knows what Trump will do? Most likely lift Russian sanctions and claim a win for US as oil prices fall perhaps. But could be anything, he's totally unstable and a habitual liar.

If the orange Cnut takes all military funding from Ukraine can/will he also reverse US sanctions on Russia?
I think he can now, he has far more power than he did in 2016 as it seems he has both the house and the senate.

My prediction....

Welcome to the Russian state of Ukraine.

Scary, if it happens as I don't see Putin stopping there.....

Hitler didn't with Czechoslovakia.

Europe needs to respond accordingly. We simply cannot reply upon the USA anymore.

putin can't take Ukraine, let alone anywhere else currently, running out of (useable) man power, money and weaponary.

As per this thread today, he's even losing ships thousands of miles from Ukraine.

If trump lifts sanctions, he risks a world of shit from Europe, as @roubaixtuesday says he might try and affect the oil price for his own benefit, but I can't see much else. One of the US biggest companies was last week fined more money than exists in the world by russia, I can't see him letting google go bust.

Oh ffs not good at all.

Clearly like most on here, I am concerned over what Trump may do over Ukraine, stop military aid? or even drop the sanctions? leading to an emboldened Putin. However, we should take some solice that in some ways the world is a much more polarised place these days with China and Russia cosying up. And Trump doesn't like China and the threat it poses to the US economy. Therefore I think it may to be harder for him to see things from Putins perspective. The US also has far greater ties and does much more trade with Europe than it does with a tin pot Russia. It's surely not in the USs interests to alienate Europe. But we shall see, he is certainly unpredictable.
