Ryder Cup 2023

Not a golf fan but always jump on the ryder cup bandwagon. Its the tribalism, i love it.

When a yank tee’d off in that last game a woman just shouted “GET IN THE WATER!!!”. It tickled me.

I can understand why the players buy into It so much. Spend 2 years playing for themselves and themselves alone then they have 3 days as part of a team.

Absolutely brilliant to watch , the sheer emotion and excitement the Ryder cup brings is a one off sheer brilliance. The class and standard so high , sporting greatness right there and on the line . Rome a magnificent venue and keep those loud hysterical gobshite yanks quiet !

Same here. Don’t really know a lot about the game, but there’s something that stirs the blood about a contest against America. It’s a great sporting spectacle, right up there with Lions tours and the Ashes for me.
Correct. I dont play golf, may take a slight interest go see who won the open etc but only if its a brit.
But yeah the ryder cup, lions, ashes. Its the absolute peak for the players involved

Rattled, wheels coming off literally, no red on the board when there’s screens all over the course must be triggering em

Each game matters and so each stroke matters.

In individual golf, you have 3 days of setting up the leaderboard before one round with some potential jeopardy riding on it. Unless you have a Van Der Velde type moment, it’s never the same drama.

Just bizarre this. Going to be some atmosphere in the US camp at the moment. They must be thinking about how to avoid the worst ever defeat already and we’re not even half way through the match.
