S.O.S.Save Our Shaun (Merged)

Re: S.O.S.

i dont see how replacing shaun with a decent winger from serie a is... he will never be as liked by the fans as shaun, he wont be able to do wot shaun does, ive never seen anyone skip past players like him... no one will adapt as quick as having shaun will... surely if the fans want him to stay then why wud the club sell?

ps. hes english and academy trained, important for the EPL and the CL, wudnt make sense in selling, as mancini said its up to shaun, as shaun said hes staying, end of.

Just because SWP is liked by the fans, it doesn't mean he is good enough for City, though I do think he still has enough about him, judging by this pre-season, to make the squad until January, at least.

And you're right about another winger not being able to do what Wrighty does.

But, by the same token, he (whoever he is) will be able to do things that SWP will never be able to do.

And as someone at work said, going to the Kremlin ruined Shaun.

Re: S.O.S.

He is not in Mancini's plans, but Bobby has no problem keeping him around. Presumably cos he's a good lad in the dressing room and won't complain. Personally I feel the same about SWP as I do about Nedum. They are not really good enough for us anymore, but could play a small role in the squad. However, I like them too much to see them waste away in the reserves. I'd much rather see them have a good season playing week-in week-out for Bolton than sit on our bench for a year. From what Mancini has said it seems like he's gonna be honest with him about his prospects and let him make his own mind up.

Dear Mr Mancini

Shaun Wright-Phillips has pulled up his socks and shown that he deserves to be included in your 25 man squad. I agree with you that we do need a new midfielder but let us not make the same mistakes Madrid did in letting go of Makelele, Snieder and Robben just because they wanted "star signings". We have a good player in our ranks who bleeds blue give him a chance, please for at least one more season.

Yours

Didactic.
