S.O.S.Save Our Shaun (Merged)

Think Roberto made it clear if you read between the lines. He would like Shaun to stay but he's told him he will be a bit part player. Your call Shaun. ( would be one of only a couple i wouldnt begrudge us keeping, regarding paying wages for little return)

Yes he did, he also said Shaun's situation is completely different to all the other players, meaning what though? I think he realises what a great talent he is when on form but needs to play to keep his confidence and remain consistent, and he can't offer him that in the set up that he has built more on a slow attacking build up most games. So I think Mancini wants him for the bench but will understand if he decides for footballing reasons, that he needs to go.

@ Carver, at least its not just me that thinks the same then. If we both understand it to be like this from Roberto's statement, i'd like to think weve got it close enough. If Shaun wants first team football he'll need to move on. Great servant for us, and could still be, albeit once a month ( which might mean below par performances ). Do what you need to do Shauny, you'll get nothing but respect from all Blues.

He said that he likes Shaun as a person (whereas it's clear he dislikes Adebayor and Bellamy). I think he'd be happy to have him around the place even if not playing (again, unlike Ade and Bellamy).

I suspect that there is, ideally (in Mancini's mind), only 1 place up for grabs between Shaun and Vlad.

has more chances than anyone I can remember at this club and has blown it

the team has moved on and his time has passed not good enough and certainly not a game changer at the top level

lost pace and a one trick pony also one of the worst crossers of a ball which is not good for a winger

take off those blue tinted specs swp is not and never has been good enough for a top 4 side runs into dead ends and the odd time it works he is just as likely to cross into the stand

summed up nicely but even the most hardened fan will admit he's given us one or two great moments.

He wants to stay, so keep him! He can be a good player off the bench, a good squad, isnt that what we are after? In pre season he's been one of our best players. SWP is a legend here, a good character, and I for one hope he stays until he retires.

Nothing to do with SWP being my hero though...

Last year of contract isn't it? Makes sense for all parties if he is sold now, I dont think there is any animosity.

Never going to make the first team as we need people to keep the ball these days.

Good lad, but move on. Then he can come out in all those former player parades we have in the future.

I'm afraid anyone who thinks he still has a place in a possible league-winning/CL-winning squad is letting sentiment over-ride common sense. Either that or they are just daft.

Stinks of when we sold quinny to sunderland...he was in the form of his life in preseason and we flogged him to get his wages - he was on 10K a week :D

Well it doesnt really in the terms of we are now loaded with money and have better players that the manager trusts more. So really it stinks of SWP playing like a 70yr old pensioner for 3 seasons before he has a decent preseason

He was in the form of his life when he jumped ship for more money and ...err....the subs bench at Chelsea, some say it was a professional decision and fair play but i think this 'blue blood' business is garbage,he's a professional afterall as he's already proved, time to move on i'm afraid
