The last I heard was that 2 of my favourite City players ever, are still not talking to each other. That's sad as they were part of our greatest ever attack -

Summerbee - Bell - Lee - Coleman - Young

It all relates to when Francis was Chairman and Frank Clark the manager. Colin and Terry Farrel did not get on that well with youth coach Neil McNab. Frank Clark incredibly decided to get rid of them all, they should never have been treated that way.

However, Colin was disappointed that Franny sat back and did nothing. He didn't even contact him, although Franny did say he was in Jersey at the time and had nothing to do with it. However as Chair he had the ultimate power and would have been consulted.

Colin took the club reluctantly to court and from then on will not attend a function at which Franny is present.

Buzzer Summerbee has tried to act as peacemaker but to no avail. Very sad for a lot of City fans who held them both as 2 of the greatest players ever to play for city.

Lets hope one day........

Well I remember it and it was pretty shameful, so if I was Colin I would feel the same. No good blaming Frank Clarke, Franny was in charge.

On the other hand Denis Tueart later was also treated like shit but is still around.

Good comment John.

Wasn't Dennis Tueart involved with the Ray Ranson team when they wanted to buy off John Wardle. Wardle sold to Thaksin instead.

You occasionally see King Colin on match days going into the Corporate bit to do a bit of hospitality entertaining. Franny also goes to some matches but I guess their paths never cross.

Tony Coleman is in Australia, what an underated player he was , hard as nails, and obviously Nelly is in everyones thoughts........

Colin Bell is not the only person to have been upset by Franny. Tony Book is another who was dismissed at a moments notice with Franny getting someone else (Bernard Halford) to do the deed for him.

A few years ago I organised a function for Blues. When I asked Skip to come along the first words out of his mouth were ''is Francis Lee going? if he is I'm not''. I had invited Franny Lee who sent his apologies. Skip duly turned up.

For those of us who have had the good fortune to meet both Colin Bell and Tony Book know that these two gents are two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet.

Francis Lee was a fantastic player for us but the worst chairman we ever had.

Tony Coleman, my favourite player when I was a nipper, hard as nails, my first footy poster on my bedroom wall...hence my user name.

Agreed Tony is hardly mentioned in the same breath as Bell, Lee and Summerbee......he was the hard man in the team along with Doyle, won a lot of balls and battled away.

Had skill also and chipped in with important goals........

Not sure if Tueart was involved with Ranson but it was Franny who insisted that he wouldn't sell his shares to Thaksin unless Tueart was sacked as a director.

Good post PB, I never realised that............

there was a lot of politics going on then............

francis lee said when he sold the club.ive got shares in the academy which will be a good investment.

implying that he would make money out of us in the future.

he was our malcolm glazer.

long live king colin!
