Safe Standing: Rail Seating in South Stand

Why do people see this as some kind of magic moment that instantly changes the atmosphere? It's a rail to hold on to during a surge in an area where everybody already stands the entire game. I welcome it because it shows the people in charge are willing to consider the fans desires but in reality absolutely nothing will change.

dont agree. Way more in the kippax and plenty of clubs have large amounts standing. Maybe not over 3 tiers, but certainly one.

We’d 100% fill a kop like stand if we built it

The Kippax was nearly 30 years ago. The demographic has changed hugely since then.

The lower tier of the South Stand is already like 7K and that’s now easily one of the biggest rail seating areas in the country.

Of course we could. when Spurs play bigger games most of their single tiered end stands up. Most of the kop do, plenty of teams across Europe do, we do at Wembley.

Spurs can do it, but we can’t?

if we build a single tier kop stand or merged tier 1 & 2, with reasonably priced tickets, Most if not all of that stand would be standing. Let’s say 12,000 fans stood up - of course we could do that.

Absolutely agree, how is this going to change anything atmosphere wise in already unofficial standing areas, with the same people in the same seat everyweek?

Never understood why we did that. Surely more chance of joint injuries with players running at speed, going from turf to astro? But I am sure there must have been a reason for it.
The sit-on mowers damage the turf as they turn, putting the "astroturf" in prevented this

There won't be any 'surge' as that's the point of safe standing.

Dont think that many people want to stand to cover that many tiers tbh.
I currently sit in line with the half way line, but I prefer standing. Lots of people are the same.

I’d absolutely love for them to make ESL1 all standing.
