Thought he was excellent there today albeit against a terrible Villa attack but he was called into action a couple of times and his positioning was spot on and dealt with the danger accordingly. I've always thought he'd have the ability to play there and said so in the pre-match thread before the game. With Zaba back and Vinny still out I think its a great way of keeping the defence solid and getting Zaba and Sagna on the pitch at the same time.

Also want to mention how brilliant he has been this season, if we did average ratings for players across the season he would be top with Fernandinho.

Another benefit of Sagna playing there is that it allows Otamendi to move to the left of the defence, where he seems to be comfortable sweeping passes on to the left back with his right foot. He did it a few times today, and it speeds up the counter attack. That said, Villa were terribly toothless, but it might be worth persisting with against Sunderland.

The question is, what will Hart do for an out ball?

Worth trying against Sunderland i'd say, I reckon Zaba could do the same job on goal kicks, would back Zaba in the air over the wingers in this league.

I was hoping he would play Bacary there today. I see no reason why he shouldn't play against Sunderland. He gives us that pace at the back we lack centrally when Vinny is out.

said a few weeks ago if zaba is fit and while komps is out play sanga at RCB with the otter LCB more balanced than demi or mangala with the otter

Shouldn't be seeing MDM again, unless injuries dictate, after that performance. Look so much stronger as a defensive unit.......even if against Villa.
Why don't you carry on at centre half Bacary, Bacary.

Completely agree. Last season I was disappointed with his performances. I don't know what happened over the close season, but this season he's been terrific & looks like a different player. It seems like a long time to bed in; maybe he was carrying an injury

He looked very comfortable. But then so would DemIchelis if he had played yesterday.

One of our very best signings given the cost and the impact he has had on our team.We haven't missed Zaba to a large extent which pretty much sums up his contribution, the fact he can also more than hold his own at centre half is a huge bonus and an even greater testament to his quality. I also believe his experience and leadership skills should not be underestimated, the man is a winner.
