Saido Berahino

Hypothetically could something like this bring an end to transfer fee's? If said player was really not happy, why can he not just hand his notice in? If a player took it to court, would he have any chance?

Was speaking to a mate who's an Albion fan and he was more pissed off with Spurs and Levy than Berahino.

According to him, Berahino wanted out last season but stayed with the promise that he could leave, for a reasonable price, for a team playing in Europe.

The problem arrived with Levy trying to get him on the cheap. Obviously Spurs are a team playing in Europe and according to reports, were offering £20+ million for him. However, as Peace pointed out, it was a stupid bid with loads of instalments.

Therefore, Berahino feels like the chairman has broken his promise, whilst Peace will maintain he didn't receive a suitable price.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprized to see Berahino stay this season and move to a bigger club than Spurs, someone like West Ham or Watford, next year.

That only works for good players. Shit players or those that regularly get injured would much have the security of a contract

I don't see much difference between what happened with Berahino, and what we did re Sterling, other than we were willing to pay the going rate eventually, and tried from the start of the window to do the deal. Yes we tried to get him cheaper initially, I'd have disappointed if we hadn't, but ultimately having turned his head, we stumped up the money, Levy is well known for being a tight bastard, and he doesn't care what the fallout is.

I wonder if our payment to Liverpool was in instalments. According to my Spurs colleague almost all payments in the Prem are in instalments. I thought there was a minimum of 50% though.

I think the only "installments" we will pay are the add ons when they're required, though PB may know more than me on that subject. I very much doubt we pay for de Bruyne over his 6 year contract for instance.

With all the money the midtable clubs have now it appears they can be more stubborn when it comes to keeping young players. I am not sure this is a good thing. It's best for West Brom, Tottenham and Berahinho for him to go.

West Brom under Pulis are always going to be a more defensive team and Berahinho will start on the wing most of the time. At Tottenham he can really develop and improve.

Berahino is a great finisher, but there's been a few instances where he's shown he could be trouble. The fight with James Morrison plus his drink driving spring to mind. Apparently his behavior was poor when he was called into the England squad last November aswell.

Berahino dropped his agent Aidy Ward (Sterling's agent) after the big fuss surrounding the Sterling move, probably a bad move in hindsight.

I was thinking the same thing. Ironic that Ward got all that criticism, but Sterling got the perfect move.

Berahino on the other hand sacked him and now is in a really bad position.
