100% all 10 authorities should just become Manchester. Greater Manchester has roughly the same population as Chicago and has the potential to truly become one of the world megacities. We have the culture, infrastructure, a world class airport (double the Numbers of any other non london airport in the uk) airport city on the way. Potentially the Atlantic gateway too, hs2. Don't forget the canals which could handle way more cargo than they already do. A world renowned football team(fuck them cunts). A great university( Graphene ffs) Culture and nightlife. We should just do it and i think we will sooner or later. The scousers would hate it too as they would become like Milton Keynes is to London.

Wigan's a bit too far away to be part of Manchester but we should have Wilmslow and Knutsford instead.

Whilst you're right about the City of Chicago, population 2.7 million, the Metropolitan area which would be more akin to Greater Manchester is about 9.9 million

What a strange hyperbolic post. Except for maybe a few people fearing the loss of their local identity i doubt you will find any articles that think there would'nt be huge benifits for the area.
