Salford Red Devils wound up by HMRC

I think you need to read back on the posts and the undertones of some of them

Not everything is an undertone it's an observation, some people get upset about the smallest of things. Happens a lot on here it's like having a discussion with an infant on many occasions.

I'm sorry I'm not sure what you mean. I was just making a passing observation that Salford Reds had to compete with City and Stretford football clubs. I don't see what I said was wrong or disparaging just a fact.
If I offended your sensibilities I apologise. No offence intended. :-)
You have not offended my sensibilities! Some posters were claiming that the future of certain clubs across sporting codes were threatened by the the changing demographics of their communities. I interpret that in one way. I was pointing out that in Bradford a multi-cultural city the football club continues to thrive

And certain people have to bring race into every post they make

The post about race it was about facts, when demographics change then things change too. You got upset about that without thinking it through.

Demographics can change through gentrification and age but you just leapt like a Dog to a whistle and that's poor.

Quite true. But I hardly think gentrification is hardly an issue facing Preston. As for age look around any football ground and you will see, if you have you eyes open or not looking at your phone, you will see a very broad cross section of all society and communities

Times change and as I said what the community cathedrals of the past all have in common is that they eventually die out, all factors taken into account this will happen to football grounds eventually starting with the sides that don't carry the big club tag who command an infinite amount of tourists.

So the huge stadium that everyone in an area is associated with will be a thing of the past soon and the next best thing will take its place, it's just a matter of time IMO.

If you ever read any of my posts I am not the most serious of posters I try to be light hearted and jokey rather than have any undertones. Plus if I unintentionally offend anyone I always apologise. :-) :-)

Salford Red Devils are a good club with plenty of fans, but they have been taken to the cleaners by the dodgy owners past and present. It could still be a very good club with the fans having a big say, with a fan-owned club

I am certainly aware of your 'admiration' of John Stones. All the Best

They desperately need a saviour with deep pockets to help them survive and grow again.

Hate to see them in this position.

They are rock bottom, but sometimes it takes being rock bottom to start again and become better
The fan catchment and the proper people running the club can get back to the Super League in time.

They had some great games at the Willows and once they moved, it was never the same

It’s really sad this. I actually shed a tear.

A club with a proud history going back well over a century.

My dad is a huge fan and in his younger days even played a few games for them.

Chronic mismanagement at board level and a string of clusterfucks have caused this. Leaving the Willows has been a disaster.

It’s really heartbreaking. I’ve been to loads of Salford games with my old fella and every single Salford fan I’ve ever met has been passionate, down to earth and welcoming.

It is a fantastic community club.

There will inevitably be a ‘Phoenix club’ and when that happens I’ll be supporting them wholeheartedly.

City could easily have ended up in the same situation had our dice rolled a different way in the 2000s.

Annoys me that the cunts play in red and most of their fans are rags though! ;)

They had one, he cleared their debt, invested a lot and then wrote off money owed to him handing the club back to the fans after 6 seasons.

Koukash tried to grow the sport and realised there were limitations, and left it in a far better position than when he found it. SCC have also helped a lot, but try running a top level sports club with 4,000 spectators and 13 home games. It doesn't add up.

While that’s true in football, it’s defintely not true in rugby league when it comes to the British-Asian population. Especially the playing side. White and black British people play rugby league but you never see Academy players of Asian descent. Ikram Butt was the last and only British-Asian player I remember making it in rugby league in Britain.

The RFL did a South Asians in Rugby League Insight Report in 2024 due to the lack of participation and interest in the sport amongst the Asian communities despite Asian immigration being so high in rugby league towns.

Rugby league has always welcomed black immigrant players into the sport* (see documentary below). Jamaica played at the last World Cup made up of a team of British players of Jamaican ancestry. Pacific Islanders who make their way to the Northern Hemisphere have always been welcomed into the sport. Australian-Lebanese Abbas Miski currently plays for Wigan, and the Aus-Lebanese population do play the sport over in Aus and make up 100% of the Lebanon national team who made the last two World Cups. There are a few French players of North African descent… but the British-Asian populations aren’t interested in the sport.

And this is a bad thing long term for the sport when you think of the size of Asian populations in traditional rugby league towns. You won’t see India, Pakistan or Syria making the World Cup with teams made up of British players like Lebanon do with Aussies.

I know some of the prior owners. I yhink everyone of the recent regimes has sunk £100ks some £m + into the club. The reality is that rugby league has a handful of profitable/sustainable clubs and the rest are pushed to the limit trying to keep up and stay competitive.

I went past PNE Deepdale on the 19a on Wednesday and after reading this news about Salford I got to thinking what if clubs like Preston just disappeared the ground sold and houses built where the footprint of the stadium is now?

We take it for granted that these institutions are always going to be there, once you change the demographic of the local population then this is what happens.
There is a fascinating documentary about Notts County, (the oldest ever English Football Club) on Sky called 'King of Lies'. Its all about about when Sven Goran Ericksson and Sol Cambell were completed duped by con men claiming to be billionaires who had bought Notts County because of their history!

They were potless and were scamming the North Korean Goverment at the same time, They even convinced gormless Sven to travel to North Korea and give the National team a coaching advice before the 2010 world cup!

Back to on topic tho! its fucking heartbreaking how these faceless con men can hide behind skint companies, and erase 150 years of community history in one season!

I'd rather live in a cardboard box with morals, than live in a mansion with the conscience of them parasites!

I disagree mate, i think Moor Lane is Prestwhich/Higher Broughton?

either way that rat faced shit stain will sell it very soon for millions and pay the absolute minimum to play at the AJ Bell! The horrible **** will make money out of Salford RL's demise one way or the other!

He probably cant spell Socialism, never mind know what it means! He should go in the Priory pub in Salford and ask the remaining Docker about socialism! I did it as a young Salford blue (who votes tory) and got educated with stories about being a socialist and life, and I loved it!

Gary Neville complained about Union Jack flags being on flown just outside the Priory pub!
