You could say the same about cycling and rugby before Brailsford, Woodward or Eddie Jones. A plan, a strategy and a different mindset will make a far greater difference.

I tend to agree. Despite the mounting evidence that we're simply not very good, there are still delusions of grandeur among some England fans.

Allardyce gets a raw deal because he's generally dealing with limited players, but he often manages to get the best out of them. And surely that's exactly what England need right now. The only problem I can envisage is some of our primadonna players sneering down their noses at him and thinking they're above his tactics. But these shysters have got away with far too much for far too long now, and the FA certainly shouldn't be pandering to their whims anymore.

Would I want to pay to watch an Allardyce side play for 38 games over a season? Certainly not. But get results over 5 games at an international tournament and you're in the semis. Who cares how pretty it is?

Can't argue with that.

Sam gets results and builds teams when before they tend to have no style or identity, he knows the English players and the styles they play, he also has the character to not get bullied by the media and players - doubt we'll see Rooney shitting around under Sam. The problem for Sam, as it has always been, is that he's got a broad northern accent. It's interesting how many other managers in the game respect him too.

You go from being managed by the likes of Conte, Guardiola, Mourinho, Wenger, Pochettino, to Allardyce. Player power could become a factor, and I think that could be his biggest challenge. I hope he strips Rooney off the captaincy and kicks him out, a long with Cahill.
