Sam Allardyce

Is Fernando Santos one of the 'top 10 managers in the world'?

If you think that Allardyce just shouts and rants then you haven't been paying attention.
Mind you, he did show his one dimensional attitude last season, by playing that big lump Defoe up front!
This is a striker with a career record of scoring 1 goal in 3 games until his spell under Allardyce when it's 1 in 2.

It's not academy coaching I am talking about it's well before that. England has just over 1300 EUFA A and pro licences. Spain has just over 15,000. They coach kids in schools and those playing Sunday football. Our kids get well meaning John who pops in to coach the u-9's when he finishes work. They play competitive games every week and if his kids are developing technically but losing, he's likely getting a pile of abuse from some no-mark. He will then start picking the 'bigger boys', they'll win a few games but the potential English David Silva won't get a look in and is likely lost to the game!
Another example of the system you've got being perfectly designed to give the results it does. Brilliant......

I know this and readily agree it is the real issue of football in this country. If we had 10,000 of those Spainish coaches teaching our kids, then I think that would be brilliant for the English game.

What has that got to do with the England manager who sits at the very top of the pyramid? If the England manager is coaching technique something is really really wrong with the game.

So in other words, it's irrelevant whether we appoint one of the world's best club managers or not.

Not at all, just because 1 manager doesnt work, that is not a reason to disregard all successful managers and settle for someone who has won 1 trophy, 3rd division title with Port Vale. I'd rather we had a proven winner in charge of England, failing that a young up and coming manager who we can stick with for 4 or more tournaments, if you dont then thats your opinion but its one I wont agree with.

The biggest problem is not the manager as such, is the FA.

When Germany struggled after 1996, which reached an all time low at Euro 2000, the German FA made drastic changes. That's what is required really.

You'd rather give a young 'up and coming manager' a minimum EIGHT YEAR contract?!

Who is this 'proven winner' and will he be bringing his own magic wand?
